We are currently seeking a dedicated Project Accounting Coordinator to work part time weekly. You will join our office team in working behind the scenes for this local Hawaii company. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial integrity of our projects from conception to completion. This is a remote access/work from home position. Preference will be given to persons living on the Big Island, although consideration will be given to persons working in other areas either in the Hawaii time zone or the Pacific Northwest time zones.

Role Overview:

The Project Accounting Coordinator will play a crucial role at White Mountain Builders Inc., focusing on the meticulous management of financial details related to our construction projects. This includes coordinating daily purchase orders, weekly client invoices and monthly payment applications and project budgets to ensure everything aligns perfectly with our project management and accounting systems. You will work closely with project managers, the office manager and our CPA firm to generate accurate financial documents and reports, ensuring our projects details are accurate and our financial practices remain transparent and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial details of construction projects, including processing and monitoring purchase orders, invoices, and payment applications.
  • Ensure seamless integration and accuracy between project management software and accounting systems (currently two online Quickbooks accounting systems.)
  • Generate and analyze detailed financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the management team and external CPA firm to ensure financial documentation is accurate and compliant with industry standards.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to aid in decision-making and project financial planning.
  • Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures to support project financial health.

Qualifications:

  • Home office work space with a quiet environment and an up-to-date personal computer and a printer for project management, accounting software programs, word processing, email and calendaring system.
  • Proven experience in a financial analysis, cost control, or a similar role within the construction or similar trade industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using project management and accounting software (Excel and Quickbooks experience required.)
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency and processes to self check and correct your own work.
  • Ability to responsibly self manage working from home to ensure optimum work productivity in reasonable time frames with minimal daily supervision.
  • Willingness to follow written procedures and email instructions with the ability to correct your own mistakes and learn from them going forward.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards and financial compliance requirements is beneficial.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required.

Benefits & Pay:

  • This is a part-time position funded at 20 hours per week.
  • Hourly pay range between $25/hr. - $30/hr. depending on experience.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision benefits will be provided
